This year has been the year of languages. The Lycée vvants to show ifs international existence. There are five languages taught here : English, Spanish, German, Tamil and French. The emphasis has been laid on the diversity ofclasses, projects and cultures existing in our school:Projects in languages, environment andarts. The school has had sorne traditional lndian or European functions in order to integrate better in this Tamil speaking community. (Deepam, Christmas party and Pongal etc...) So as the afternoon passed that day) remembered that l had sportsandl had worn jeans to school but1 came to know that ((monsieur)) as the sports teacha'had excused mefor 1vearingjeans, another luck)' thing that my sportsteacher knew English. As the classes went on, Igot to know afewpeople) and ail thepeople l met were very kind to me, then tofinish the day l had a Maths class. The teacher was'nt ver)'good at English butit wasgood enough for me. The differencesl had flund in this school and my previous Jchool HJas that there were no unifol!'ms andyourhaircouldgrow aslongasyou wanteditto. Then there werenoassemblies orprayer time in Lycée white my oldschool spentonehour flrprayersandthey had assembly. In this schooi students had to change their classfor eac/] period Jvhile in my oldschoolwewouldfust have one classand the teachers wouldhape to come to us .In lycée we 1vould have a break after each period while lve neve'/' bad tbat in my old schoolandwe only had halfan hourfor lunch time while here we have2 hours! To me every day in lycée is Iike a neJ:v adventure up ahead .Tben there are many difficulties thatlie aheadtoo. ButTm eager to experience more... Kyu Ho 8th Std (5 "3) 6 l Every year, the Hindu team organises a Quiz Program all around India. The quiz is madefor studentsf;~om 9 to 13 years from aIl schools in India. So this year too it was held in Pondicherry. We also participated in the quiz so each school 11eeded 4 teams of2participants so there were 3 teamsfrom 9 1h standard (3e) and a reamfrom 8 1h standard (4e). flle quiz was held on 10,I! Dctober at Pondicheny Engineering College (PE. C). lt l,'as a Saturday so we didn 't have a chance to sldp classes. 1f!hi/e we were waiting outside the auditorium al! the students were looking at us because we were the only ones who were not in uniform. After the long queuefinally they opened the gate. While entering inside they gave some papenl we had tofill in for the registration. At the entrance we -vvere given some snacks. The Quiz started with a selection round f or the best 6 teamsfrom 330 teams. Unfortunately, we didn't win the round, after that they selected the top 6 teams and the show began. We a/so enjoyed the show. If theparticipants on the stage didn 't answer the questions, the question passed to the audience andwegota chance to win a Dictionary. At the end ofthe show the minister came and distributed the prizes to the winners. kIrs. Mathis andMrs.Diagne encouragedus because they thought we were boredbut the truth was we were really enjoying ourselves. And we hope that if will continue nextyear with sorne otherstudents.
