A warm welcome to the January 2008 edition of Eden & Elle, the online magazine which combines useful interviews with timely information on a multitude of different subjects and features the "everyday" woman - women of all shapes, size and ages in a photoshoot showing that they can look just as beautiful posing for a glamour photographer as the latest centerfold. The models this month, Anja and Linda had a great time posing for our photographer even though it was below freezing and they had trouble getting to the locations for the sessions. As you will see, Anja got to feel like a mermaid in a gorgeous tropical setting and Linda enjoyed the romantic warmth of a white plush rug in front of a log fire. Our Interview this month is with Kandee G., an international keynote speaker, life skills coach and successful author. In an extensive interview she left no stone unturned and shared her thoughts and experiences on how to go about getting EXACTLY what you want. Her story “from peanut butter to private jets” is an awesome journey that she underwent and now tells so we can learn from her challenges. An incredible lady! To start off the new year in a frenzy, Eden & Elle explores not one but three erotic toys of the month. This time we delve into the kinky world of body clamps and slide in solid information concerning lubricants. Whether you are new to the thought of pain=pleasure or just interested in the latest items on sale, you'll find useful information on these pages. Eden & Elle literally had to lie down and relax after meeting Jamie, our newest addition to the magazine. Jamie Scalise is so titillating yet his persona radiates a sense of calmness about him that we felt his column rightly deserved the name Jamie – Gods' gift to Women. If we have sparked your desires, then flip over to page 25 where you'll see why we had just had to lie down! Because it's winter, we felt that the destination of the month should appropriately be somewhere that snow covers the peaks, so we thought Edinburgh in Scotland, reknown for its Highlands, would be a great choice. We discovered a lot more than we bargained for. As always, to accompany this destination we have a yummy recipe from the only Micheline star restaurant in Edinburgh namely Restaurant Martin Wishart. The atmosphere is wonderful and the meals so divine that we couldn't resist, so we have two recipes from his kitchen. You'll find Charissa's Diary, the monthly alternative, trends and news and lots of other information just waiting to be read – Enjoy! Trends & News in January Doc Martens – both feet firmly on the ground Dr. Martens showed up at New York’s fall Fashion Week in collections by Yohji Yamamoto, who is collaborating with the brand to create a limited-edition line, and by Chloé, which paired chunky boots incongruously with willowy dresses. “They are kind of antifashion fashion,” said Kimberly Barta, vice president for marketing at AirWair International’s American operation in Portland, Ore. “We were a practical, hard-wearing, all-purpose work boot before we were ever picked up by the youth culture, and in time we became a design classic.” Now Ms. Barta is trying to replicate deliberately what first happened by chance. The company used to be able to rely on rock bands finding their way to the shoes, but now it is making sure the shoes find them: pairs of Dr. Martens are provided gratis to popular and up-and-coming musicians, including Avril Lavigne, Gallows and the Misshapes, Ms. Barta said. Today there are about 450 styles, compared with just a few originally. And while the shoes once had to be sought out in “those nipple-ring and nose-ring stores that brought the brand to prominence,” Ms. Barta said, today they are available at major retailers and at online shoe stores like Zappos. Google to compete against Wikipedia Google, the company that runs the most popular search engine on internet has plans to develop a free internet encylopdia just like Wikipedia. They have even come up with a name for the information site, namely “knol” Udi Manber, Vice President Engineering announced the iniative on Googles' official blog mid december 2007. "Google helps internet users find information they need quickly and efficiently but not everything can be found on the web. Millions of people who possess useful knowledge they would like to share, and billions of people who can benefit from it, can be found online. We wish to give them the possibility to please both. Google appears to be entering in the world of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which already has more than two million articles on their information base. The Google alternative is to receive the name "Knol", which stands for a unit of "knowledge". One main difference between Wikipedia and Knol is that, at the discretion of the author, an article (knol) may include ads and Google will provide the author with a substantial revenue share from the proceeds of those ads. Knol will include strong community tools. People will be able to submit comments, questions, edits, additional contradictory content, and so on. Anyone will be able to rate a knol or write a review of it. Knol will also include references and links to additional information. Below, a screenshot of what the site will look like. Animal webcam buddies – geek or chic ? The blue dog or red dinosaur are colorful attributes to use on your desk. Each USB webcam comes with a built in mic for webchats but they can only be used for PC's so mac users are out of luck. They are priced at $19 which keeps the fun in using them. They may not be to your taste, but what about a belated christmas gift for the nieces or nephews (or any adults that you know!) A taste of the exotic Nowadays more and more people are making the move from health and natural food stores for the mainstream to high nutrient "superfruits" like acai, goji berries, noni and even pomegranates. Also expected to make a breakthrough, is the yumberry - the subtropical fruit originally from China, but now being honored worldwide for its high antioxidant content and cranberry-like flavor. The fruit is already creeping onto shelves, particularly in the US. A range of drinks from Frutzzo Natural Juice including Yumberry Cherry and Yumberry Pomegranate blends is already available. Not only are these types of fruit often healthier than the fruit that one can buy at the corner store, they also offer a welcome change for our taste buds. However, it will be a while before the classic “homemade by Grandma” apple or blueberry pie makes way for the more exotic fruit pies. January Interview This month we have an interview with Kandee G. She is an International Keynote Speaker, life skills coach and a successful author. As a single mom, Kandee went from being homeless to living a life most of us only dream of. This is her story. (Since this is an extensive interview, we divided it into two parts, including part I below. Look for part II in the February issue of Eden&Elle) E&E : Good afternoon Kandee G. and thank you for taking the time to do this interview. K.G. : No problem. E&E : I'd like to start off by saying I really admire you and the work that you do. Your weekly radio show and daily G notes are an inspiration to me, as I'm sure they will be to our readers. You personify much of what women all over the world desire, and I am extremely grateful that you are sharing your story with us today. K.G. : You're welcome! E&E : I'm sure many of our readers have heard of your rise from peanut butter to private jets, but for those who are not familiar, could you tell us your story. K.G.: Yes, I'll take you back to the very early years. I grew up in a very dysfunctional family and was raised by aunts and uncles and grandparents, not by my parents, and those folks begrudgingly took on the job of raising a child that wasn't theirs. The day after I graduated from school, I was still 17 years old, they basically said to me, “Our job is done, go find a place and live there”. So at a very early age I was sent out into the world on my own and I had no one really to mentor me into adulthood. So, I said fine, I'll do whatever it is I need to do to make myself happy, because I wanted what everyone wanted.....which was, family, and happiness and a career and all those incredible things. When I got out into the world, without a mentor, what I found instead of a whole lot of happiness was a whole lot of hard knocks and heartache. I was swept up into a group of folks that really did not serve my growth forward, and I immediately began to recognize that I was heading down a path that was not a good path for me. So, I decided to move away from that group of friends and begin to study folks that were successful. I needed help, I needed someone to teach me how to be an adult and how to grow in this world, and this I did out of absolute desperation. I studied mainstream religions, alternative religions, success gurus like Stephen Covey, motivational folks like Les Brown and it began to become a passion of mine. I continued to read and fill myself with all of this information. Now, I'm going to take my story ahead from that point to fifteen years later, where I had been studying people for probably those fifteen years. And like most people, who will take in the information and not apply it wholly and fully, but partially, that's kind of what I did. I had moved along and created a career, got married and had a beautiful little baby girl. But by a series of circumstances, everything that I had acquired up until that point in time - remember, I'd been in the workforce now for fifteen years - was made to go away, including retirement account, savings account, and investment account. I lost my home along with my ex-husband and I was left with a four month old baby to raise on my own, and as you remember the story prior, I had no family to turn to. So what I did was I sat down and took an inventory of my life, of what it was that I did have in my life. The following I remember as if it was yesterday. I was walking around my home that I was about to lose and I went to the refrigerator to get something to eat, and the only thing that was left was a jar of peanut butter. I looked at that jar of peanut butter, held it in my hand and I made the decision at that point in my life that I was never going to be a victim of life’s circumstances. I was going to be a victor, whatever it took, and as I mentioned earlier, I took an inventory of what I did have, and what I had was fifteen years of study of incredible laws and principles. It was like these threads of truth, similar things that ran through all the things that I had studied, and it was a that point that I thought, if these people are saying this is what makes us successful, I'm going to find a way, engineer a way to keep myself on track, and most of the things I've studied really centered around thought transformation. When we change our thinking, we change our lives. So, I began to apply these laws and principles wholly and fully and in a very short period of time began to create and design the life that I wanted to live, the life that was in my heart, the life I was meant to reclaim, the life I came here to live and I moved on from that day of eating peanut butter out of a jar to building a sales organization. There was no money to start. Remember, I was a homeless single mom, lived with friends, and went on to build a sales team that rose to the top 4% in the world with the company I was working in. I began to really understand how these laws and principles worked. The more I applied them, the more I learned how to apply them, and the more I studied them. So I've now spent more than thirty years in thought transformation. With my work I began to make as much money in a month as most people make in a year, I've travelled extensively, I've got two beautiful homes and most places I go I travel to by private jet, hence my story being told from peanut butter to private jets. I don't tell people that story to impress them and so they say “oh look at all the stuff you have”, I tell people my story to impress upon folks that you can have, do, and be anything that you want. E&E: That in itself, to me, is a huge accomplishment, but what has been the biggest highlight of your life and career so far? K.G.: I continue to create big highlights every day, it's incredible that you ask that question. I think one was being able to get to the place where I could finally publish my book, as I've always been a writer in my heart. I wrote a book called “Now Boarding: Next Stop, Your Remarkable Life” that was absolutely a pinnacle to everything. I will tell you that it was probably seven years ago that I walked away from my sales team. I walked away from what most folks would've considered a money machine, because I knew that I had been gifted, having had a very tough early life, so I could learn this information, take it out and share it with other people. I walked away from my sales team and stepped out into the speaking and writing arena so I could take this information and share it with other folks. E&E: The book “Now Boarding: Next Stop, Your Remarkable Life” was one of your first books, and you have now written a new one called “Walking with the Wise Entrepreneur”. Is that an extension of your previous book, or are they two separates altogether? K.G.: Actually, “Walking with the Wise Entrepreneur” is a collection of authors, it's an anthology. There are many folks, like Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Donald Trump, and I was asked by the publisher to be a part of this wonderful collection of authors to share, in part, some of the knowledge that I have of how to be a wise entrepreneur. E&E: Especially as a female, do you feel that it has been an advantage or disadvantage being a woman ? K.G.: I don't even think that I look at it either way, but what I do know is that today, the women in the workforce are an absolute revolution. Women owned businesses are rising at a 2 to 1 rate, the numbers are staggering about what women are bringing into the workforce. I just think it's part of how evolution is today, and I happen to be part of what is happening. E&E: I noticed on your website that you are now offering an online vision program that starts third week of January 2008, can you tell us more about that. K.G.: Yes, we are. What the online vision program does is walk you through the process that I describe in my book “Now boarding”. I've been teaching the vision program inside corporations for the last several years with some pretty extraordinary results. Bottomline wonderful results where we've brought abundance to corporations but beyond that, their culture has shifted. People are happier, people are more fulfilled, happier to be at work, they can see the reasons why they are there. To me, that's a huge win, a huge success. E&E: Now, you also have the personal coaching program called G.A.M.E.S. Can you tell our readers more about what this entails and how they can benefit from it? K.G.: When I teach my G.A.M.E.S. which is what I call a pathway to personal action, I teach five universal laws on how they create the things they create in their lives. I give a five part strategy to keep your thinking on track. If you do your “G” “A” “M” “E” “S” every day you will begin to bring, what can amount to magic and miracles in your life. You will begin to create those things you want. Again, I go back to the fact that there is so much negativity and distraction in the world today that it's hard for us to focus on what we want all the time. If I can impart to people what I know about the power of the mind and the power of our thinking and thoughts, then if you really get it, you would never ever, ever focus on what's negative, what's going wrong, who to blame, what someone else has done, you would ALWAYS focus on where you're going. E&E: What do you mean by causitive energy and creative balance as I've heard you use those words often as well? K.G.: We have the power to create whatever it is that we want in our lives. Wallace Wattles wrote “the science of getting rich”, he also wrote a book called “the secret of financial success” – harnessing the power of creative thought. What Wallace Wattles says is “there is a thinking stuff which permeates, penetrates and fills the inner spaces of the universe, and when you can apply a thought to this formless substance, you cause the thing that you are thinking about to be created”. What I'm saying is that there is this creative substance or creative flow that we can tap into to actually help attract and manifest in our lives the things we want. E&E: I've read the book “the science of getting rich” several times yet still find it difficult to comprehend due to the old English, Is your online vision program or the G.A.M.E.S. program based on his book? K.G.: It's not necessarily based on his information alone. I've studied almost everyone who talks about the power of our thinking to create our outside world. I've studied Religion, psychology. I've studied philosopy, quatum physics and neuro science. It all points back to the same place ; all that man achieves, all that man fails to achieve is a direct result of our own thinking. So, for me it became very important to uncover ways that we could tap into that creative aspect of who we are. Therefore in answer to your question – Absolutely! The online vision program or the G.A.M.E.S. personal coaching program is designed to take a little bit of this information, give you theory and show you how it works, then again a little information, give you the theory and show you how it works, walking people through the process until they totally get it. By the time we finish you have a tool in your hand to help you create the life that you want and then my team and I pretty much “sit” on folks until they use the information. We email you, we send you information to stay on track, we stay in touch with you and create teleclasses for you to tap into. Because what is so important to me, is that this information gets delivered in a way that people will utilize it and absolutely transform their lives. E&E: I would really like to thank you for taking time out of your schedule to talk with us today. I will, like I'm sure many of my readers, be signing up for your online vision program in January, so I'll be talking to you again then! K.G.: Thank you! It's a great thing. It's the first time that the online vision program is available for $89. What will be happening is that I will certainly be there, a portion of it will be taught by my team members but I'll be there as well, so it's really great value or people. E&E: Kandee G, thanks again, on behalf of myself and our readers Merry christmas and a happy new year. K.G.: Thank you so much, merry christmas and a happy new year to you all as well. Bye!
