This chemical covering is polymerised at high temperature. The durability of this treatment is given by the polymerisation, but also because of the individual treatment of each filament before the ropeismade.AGoldenDryropeisaropewiththecoreDry treated, and a sheath of Dry Cover. Key features: • Very limited weight gain in wet conditions. • Prevents the rope thickening too much. • Improved rope-running through karabiners and belay devices. • Improved abrasion resistance in normal climbing use. Dry Cover Each filament of the sheath of 'Dry Cover' ropes is treated with a water repellent chemical before the rope is manufactured. This chemical covering is polymerised at high temperature. The durability of this treatment is given by the polymerisation, but also because of the individual treatment of each filament before the rope is made. On a Dry Cover rope, the core is not treated. Key features: • Improved resistance to grit and to humidity. • Limited water absorption. • Improved rope-running through karabiners and belay devices. • Improved abrasion resistance in normal climbing use. Classic Neither sheath nor core of 'Classic' range ropes have been subjected to chemical treatment. However, the 'Classic' range of ropes, like the 'Dry Cover' and 'Golden Dry' ropes benefit from all BEAL’s advanced technology, and offer excellent shock absorption because of their very low impact forces. Key features: • Excellent shock absorption due to very low impact force. • Same resistance as 'Dry Cover' ropes to repeated falls. • Excellent balance between quality & price. Eco As the 'Classic' ropes, the 'Eco' range of ropes has received no chemical treatment. In a different respect, they do not benefit from the BEAL advanced technology of low impact force. In addition their sheath thickness is less than that of our other rope categories. These ropes without surface treatment are thus more eco-friendly and cheaper to manufacture, but they have a higher impact force, thus lesser capacity for cushioning falls. Key features: • Economic construction. • Eco-friendly conception. The more the impact force is lowered: • The more your fall is cushioned. • The more you protect your anchor point (particularly important if it is questionable). • The easier it is for your second to hold you. BEAL, for more security: Sharp edge In 2002 the UIAA adopted a complementary test to the normal one for testing the strength of a rope over a metal edge. The standard UIAA test involves a mass of 80 kg, with a fall of factor 1.77, held over a metal edge of 5 mm radius to simulate a karabiner. The test uses the same weight of 80 Kg (55 Kg for one strand of double rope), and the same fall factor, but this time over a sharp edge of just 0.75 mm radius. From 2005, the UIAA no longer recognises the validity of this test. UNICORE process Up to present reserved for semi static ropes only,UNICORE technology is from now on available on the Diablo range of dynamic ropes. BEAL has succeeded in effectively linking the core and sheath of these dynamic ropes in a way that broadly limits movement between the two parts, so that they work better together. Dynamic ropes benefiting from the UNICORE process suffer less sheath inflation, stay more supple, more agreeable to handle and have a longer lifetime. By having a more free-running sheath than on a 'classic' rope, friction against the rock and through karabiners is reduced, resistance to abrasion is improved, and the effort of pulling slack and clipping is greatly lessened. The climber really has the sensation of handling a much thinner and lighter rope because of the increased running fluidity, whilst retaining the assurance of a rope of higher diameter. Raised number of falls Although the UIAA requires a minimum resistance to 5 falls at factor 1,77, BEAL greatly exceeds the requirements of the standards and goes well beyond this number of falls. Low impact force Apart from Wall Master V, with very specific properties, all the single ropes have a maximum impact force of around 7 kN, and the double ropes around 5 kN. But we go much further, because at the end of the series of successive test falls, our ropes still do not exceed the limit which is only required for thefirstfall!Whenyouconsiderthatropelosessomeofitsdynamicqualities with each fall, this is an incredible performance, guaranteed only by BEAL! Safe Control Change of pattern in the middle of the rope without cutting the filaments to indicate a length of rope sufficient for descending. Bicolour Change of colour in mid-rope, for use when abseiling on double rope. Black Limit Indelible black marking at the rope’s mid-point, on single ropes. BEAL, more services: DryCoversheathtreatment, forbetterabrasionresistance. A Dry Cover protected rope is: • More resistant to dust and to the wet. • More resistant to abrasion. • Better long-term running of ropes through belay devices. Dry Cover added to Golden Dry treatment of the core gives: • More resistance to ice and to water. • Reduced weight gain in wet conditions. BEAL, for more durability: Dry Cover This innovation makes the ropes more resistant to ABRASION, and to various attacks such as falls, overheating, humidity, mud and grit, and significantly increases their longevity. Identification Every BEAL rope posesses an individual identification N°, called IdN, on the end of the rope and on an individual identification card. 3 Year guarantee All BEAL PPE is guaranteed for 3 years against all faults in materials or manufacture. Excluded from the guarantee: normal wear and tear, modifications or alterations, bad storage, bad maintenance, accidental damage, negligence, and/or uses for which the product was not designed. BEAL is certified ISO 9001: 2000 This certificate of quality management demonstrates the capacity of BEAL to guarantee the constant quality of its products and services. Through this certification BEAL commits itself to a continuous improvement in customer satisfaction. Golden Dry This is a combination of 2 treatments: to DRY COVER is added a core treatment. This way we obtain a rope with astonishing water impermeability and incredible durability. Add an RFID microchip To ensure fail-safe traceability of your PPE, in case of loan, hire, or disposing of ropes or harnesses, BEAL has different microchips for insertion into your products. This rope will be loved by the most extreme climbers, seeking lightness and easy running, as much as by more traditional climbers seeking a multi-purpose rope for ridge routes or classic face routes, mixed ice and snow, or snow alone. Designed for high-level climbers, this is the single rope preferred for very hard routes. Amateurs stand aside… Strong points: • An incredible number of falls for its weight and so smooth running that it results in an appreciable saving in energy when clipping. Uses: High grade climbers. ATTENTION: Used as single rope, this is not a rope to put in all hands, or in all belaying devices: Its thinness makes it a rope which absolutely demands an expert belayer. In effect, traditional belay devices will offer reduced braking, and some automatic belay devices may not work at all. singleropehighlevelclimbing Strong points: • Multi use. • Ultra light. • Ultra smooth.
