Fire protection What is fire-retarding agent? Antipyrene (lat. аnti - against and gr. рyr - fire) – It is a substance or a mix of the substances protecting organic materials from ignition. All fire-retarding agents create a dense film on a surface of materials which prevents oxygen access, and without oxygen, as it is known, burning is impossible. During rise in temperature fireretarding agent degrades and forming inert gases which do not allow to ignite protected materials. Besides, inert gases absorb heat, this process does not allow protected material to reach the temperature of decomposition and fire point. Fire-retarding agents are used for impregnation in autoclaves, in hot-cold baths. These materials can be used to cover the surface of wood by a brush or any other way.
